KSDS Alum Parents

A PLACE TO RECONNECT.

Saying Goodbye to KSDS May 23, 2012

Among the many families whose youngest child will soon join siblings as Krieger-Schechter graduates were four long-time KSDS households.   The Brooks family (22 amazing Schechter years), the Frazers (19 wonderful Schechter years), the Smiths (16 incredible Schechter years) and the Friers (16 fabulous Schechter years) all decided they wanted to do something special to mark the end of an important era.  This past Friday they treated the faculty and staff to a lovely brunch, a bittersweet send-off to those who have been an integral part of the KSDS family for so long.  One thing we all know, though, is once a part of the Schechter community, always a part of the Schechter community.

Scene around…. on the roof of KSDS! May 14, 2012

True to his word, Dr. Schneider became the Fiddler on the Roof last week.  Yes, he really was on the roof of the Esterson Lobby overhang, during morning car pool.  “Assisted” by alum parent, Sally Grobani and a boom box blaring him singing “Country Boy”, he played his fiddle for all to see.  And what a festive car pool it was.

Your next question may be; “why?”  Well it is pretty simple.  Earlier this year, the PA asked for his assistance to try and encourage the students to bring in a large number of boxtops.  And the challenge was issued.  If the students brought in over 1000 boxtops, he would be the Fiddler on the Roof for a day.  Of course many more than 1000 boxtops were brought in.  And so he had to fulfill his side of the bargain, which he gladly did.

Many of our graduates who have gone on to high school at the Park School of Baltimore are involved in its student-run newspaper, The Postscript.  Click here to read this month’s edition where you will see a cartoon by Katie Posner (2008) and read articles written by Sarah Cohen (2010), Daniel Moskowitz (2011), Victoria Brown (2010), Reid Danels (2009), and Jake Max (2008).  Make sure to read the article “Alumni Pursue Art in College” featuring Blake Pruitt (2007) and Lindsy Moskowitz (2007).

Feel free to peruse previous editions and you will discover other KSDS alum who have contributed articles, including Jeremy Cohen (2008), Samantha Max (2010), Josh Schwartz (2010), and Leah Shipiro (2008), who is one of the three editors-in-chief.

We are proud of our alum and know that so many of them are engaged  in a myriad of extra-curricular activities wherever they have gone on to high school.  We love hearing about their involvement and achievements, so please keep us informed.

Hadassah’s 100 birthday. March 28, 2012

Filed under: Alum Parents,Events,News,Where are you now. — alumparentblogger @ 2:43 am

Hadassah celebrated its 100th birthday on Sunday, March 4, 2012.  We are so proud of the Schechter alum, alum parents and alum grandparents who were involved in this special event.  Mazal tov on a job very well done to the intergenerational co-chairs: Debbie Brill (2008), her mother, Michele Brill (also mother of Lee, 2005), and her grandmother, Sarajane Greenfeld.

Entertainment that day was provided by the talented group Three of a Kind, which is comprised of  Jonny Lewis (Shawn, 2008 and Kevin Rosofsky, 2010), Leslie Pomerantz (Miriam 2008), and Michael Hoffman.
